I am having the same problem except that another error message pops up and closes too quickly for me to save or read.
I have uninstalled and re-installed 3 times but the error still occurs. I am using AAW2007 Plus on Windows XP SP2 with AVG 7.5 Free.
Have sent the message to support as requested.

After my attempts to solve this issue Ad-Watch no longer remembers its settings even after numerous reboots.

I am rather disappointed in Ad-Aware so far as I purchased it after having unresolvable problems with Spyware Doctor 5, but it seems that Ad-Aware is not
much better.
It seems that getting these programmes to run as services is problematical on many systems.

Tobias,

I click on OK after which Ad-Aware runs, but as 7.0.1.3 not 7.0.1.4 as no update has been done even though a message has been displayed to say the update is complete.

Tobias,

I have attached screenshots of the various messages/displays. They are not in the order in which they occur.

I hope this works as I am not sure how to be certain they are attached.

Dave

Sorry, too many of the Ad-Aware information screens

Thanks for the screenshots. Just one question - does the error message appear when you click OK in the Update Manager? Or does it just appear without you clicking anywhere?

Regarding the version number in the About Box - this number is not updated with the update - it will say 7.0.1.3. regardless of whether you completed this service update or not.

Tobias,

I think the error message only occurs once I have clicked OK, but i would need to uninstall again to check as I did not wait before clicking OK.

Do you want me to uninstall again to check ?

I am assuming that no update occurs as I still have the flashing Ad-Watch icon which I believe from other posts this update should have fixed.

No, the update did not fix the flashing icon. Since you got the dialog stating that the update is complete I would guess that you do have the latest version of the service. You can check this by going to the Ad-Aware 2007 folder, right-click the aawservice.exe file and choose 'Properties'. In the Properties window, go to the Version tab and check the File Version - if it says 7.0.1.4 your service has been updated successfully.

If you could unistall and reinstall that would help us locate the error dialog and solve the problem. We would be most grateful.

Tobias,

As soon as I get a chance I will uninstall and let you know.

The file version is still 7.0.1.3 so the update did not occur in spite of the dialog saying it had.

Tobias,

The error messages happen only after OK is pressed on the "Update Information" dialog.

I am attaching more screenshots.

Thanks,

Dave
