d'loaded free AAW2007 from CNET (AAW2007.exe). Program says it's ready to install and then. It pops up with a FATAL ERROR: "Installation Ended Prematurely Because Of An Error." Only an OK button is available and when you click..... its all over.

I suspect a problem with the installer but that's only a guess.

Anyone else see this problem?

Any suggestions?

Help!!

I'm having the same issue after purchasing and trying to install Ad-aware 2007 Plus

Hello, you have to clean your registry with a third part tool, like Registry Mechanic, or MV RegClean (freeware) (is in portuguese, but its easy to use), also before do that, remove lavasoft folder at your "program files".

I purchased an upgrade to ad-aware 2007 plus to upgrade from ad-aware se personal (free version). I downloaded the software from 'Lavasoft' link, when I tried to install I got the same problem as you "Installation ended prematurely because of an error" I assumed the install may have stumbled with the uninstall of the old version, so I removed all trace of lavasoft and ad-aware from my computer including in the registry (using JV 16 Power Tool). I then re-start the computer and tried to install again, alas same error!! I'm going to dowload the software again (in case my version was corrupted) and try to install it again. I will let you know if I suceed! If anybody else has this problem and managed to resolve it, I would like to hear from you. Thanks

mad.gif same problem with install for ad-aware 2007 SE. unsure.gif Spybot and AVG anti-spyware installed fine though. wink.gif

there were not any previous installs of lavasoft software on my puter.

After my initial post I tried d'loading from another site and got exactly the same result. Since then I have tried running MSIEXEC from the run box using: msiexec /i "<pathfile for AAW2007.exe>". This results in a different fatal error. This is a Windows Installer error and reads:

"The installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package".

Like I said .... sounds like the installer package is faulty. Meanwhile I've gone back to the SE Personal program.

As I said, I downloaded the software again and now I have 2 version 7.0.1.2 and 7.0.1.3 I tried to install both version (cleaning the registry in between) but got the same error each time!? I send an email to support, lets see how long it will take them to reply with a solution!

I'm also having the same trouble. I get Error 1722.

I downloaded the file from download.com and majorgeeks.com, and fc /b showed the files identical.
Here are my checksums:
D:\Download>sha256deep aaw2007.exe
85eb88bc9147bfaafe87d8fdc26c37d8b5066e05ea044809043c9206e7c66641 D:\Download\aaw2007.exe

D:\Download>md5deep aaw2007.exe
b4fc3827060c81b78298eb95053e3a2e D:\Download\aaw2007.exe

I also tried deleting my C:\Documents and Settings\Kaitlyn\Application Data\Lavasoft which the SE uninstaller missed. That didn't help either.

I'm using Win2000+SP4 and all the updates. AV and FW are the Kaspersky bundled with iolo's System Mechanic 6. Video is 6600GT with driver 91.33. I also use Spybot and Spyware Blaster.

To register the Visual Basic Script runtime:
Go to Start -> Run, type the following command and hit Enter. >> regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\system32\vbscript.dll

You should a prompt that says "DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll succeeded."

there you go!
Kaitlyn
I just tried that, but I got the same result as before.

Also tried the dll reg and that doesn't do anything except register the dll.

I also d'loaded and installed a newer version of MSIEXEC.exe (3.1) and ..................................................guess what ?

That doesn't work; I still get the same Windows installer message regarding a faulty installer package

Maybe someone at LS should take another look at the installer package? You think?

i had the same problem as in error 1722, what would be interesting to know is if everyone who as posted here with the problem of not being able to install ad-aware 2007 was using ad-aware se beforehand? i suspect everyone, also how many uninstalled their old version using the uninstaller provided with the original program? again i suspect all. anyway i managed to sort it out and install ad-aware 2007, the way it worked for me is this i first of all reinstalled ad-aware se then i uninstalled it using add/remove in windows control panel, then i checked my hard drive for any folders named lavasoft or ad-aware and deleted all i found then using regedit i searched the registry for keys with lavasoft or ad-aware in the name and deleted them, finally i downloaded ad-aware 2007 and enjoyed a trouble free instalation. sorry if you find this confusing but it worked for me and hopefully will for you too, give it a try it might just surprise you. polygon

Thanks for sharing your solution. I'll try it out and see what happens
Kaitlyn
I skipped the re-install of SE and just did the deleting of old files and registry entries. That got the new version installed for me smile.gif

Thanks for looking in to the problem. I tried the method outlined by Polygon ... deleting all traces of the SE installation and I still get the same installer error. I tried searching Microsoft and while they have a number of KB's on the issue they have no real solutions either.

Hope you can come up with a solution.

Hi all,

I got this message but after some tickering around I managed to solve it.

Like many others I had SE-Personal (Free version) installed on the machine, so I took that off. I still got the message so cleared out my files and folders for mentions of lavasoft or ad-aware and went into regedit to clear any references out of the registry too.

Somewhere in amongst that lot I also ran CCleaner, a free registry/clutter cleaner.

Nothing up to then had resolved my issues, until I used Frey's regsvr tip. All worked fine, with the choose if you accept terms and licence box appearing and everything following on from that. Thanks for that tip Frey, seem's to have done the trick. smile.gif

It is now all running but my only gripe is that the update manager found some updates and has appeared to crash...

Thanks
Martin

BRK
Well, my installation fails because it is looking for drive E:\ which I do not have!!!

Yes! I am having the same problem. I paid for the upgrade and I cannot get it to work at all. I deinstalled it and just tried to download the free one and I am still getting the same problem! I sent an email to Lavasoft support but have not heard back. Getting very frustrated!

I Tried everything, I removed my SE+ installation, I even Unzipped the archive. My Error message states "Corrupt Installation Detected, Check Source Media or Re-Download"
I re-downloaded more than 10 times on different networks and different locations. I have ran Ad-Aware SE Plus and All previous Versions for many years.....I love it...I depend on it to find the S--T and remove it. The Log file states that the contents are 117 files, after opening the archive & accompaning CAB's I find 3 files missing. CHECK THIS OUT!
I have one month to download my purchase, I won't RE-install the SE+ so I will wait for a good compilation!

I also get the "Fatal Error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error." I have cleaned the registry and deleted all folders that refer to Lavasoft or Ad-Aware. Very frustrating. mad.gif
