Hello,

I've just installed Ad-Aware 2007 Pro!, supposed to be free edition.

Vista Ultimate 32 bits French AOM
Bit Defender 10 Internet Security (all options disabled during installation and use of Ad-Aware)

Installation with administrator rights (UAC is disabled)

Instal OK
Smart Scan : at the end : Error message : Component : TVirtualStringTree - Canvas does not allow drawing - Adaware now terminates. OK

Then, Ad-Aware closed.

Only Ad-Aware was running. I tried at different moments, in case a Windows Service will be implicated in hang.

Hope it will help for a fix...

Thanks a lot for the great work!

Oops! Just read the same topic in this forum. Sorry. Waiting for the fix.

I have the same problem with Vista Home Premium.

AdAware 2007 does not support Windows Vista yet, and that crash is caused because of a conflict with the Aero theme. Try turning Aero off, it shouldn't crash if you do. You can also right-click the shortcut for AdAware 2007 and go to Compatibility and check the box for "Disable Desktop Composition". That will cause Vista to turn off Aero while you run AdAware, and automatically start it again when you exit the application.

IT WORKS!

I'm running Vista Home Premium and Ad-Aware 2007 Pro. I was getting the same Error: 1810 message during scanning, found this post and disabled desktop composition. Now it runs beautifully! Would be nice to get a bug fix soon so Vista users don't have to keep turning Aero off! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks Joakim!

I had the same problem on Vista Ultimate. Disabling desktop composition has stopped the error. I don't think it's scanning my cookies though. After program files it ends the scan. I didn't realise Ad-Aware 2007 free still wasn't compatable with Vista. Guess I had better uninstall it then mellow.gif

This fixed my problem as well with Vista Ultimate. Thank you.
