Dear all,

I just detected some malware called "BlackCore" with Spybot Search & Destroy - classified as a backdoor Trojan.

S&D says that BlackCore can take over system-critical functions and copy itself to the system directory. It then tries to connect to the internet, open a browser window and display an advertising website. I can't say that I've seen any advertising websites, though - perhaps because I have SpywareBlaster installed?

I attempted to fix it with S&D, but noticed afterwards that when I opened IE, it attempted to connect to a URL containing the word "BlackCore", suggesting the fix wasn't successful. Also, my computer is still very slow.

I have a couple of questions, and would appreciate any advice:

(1) How do I remove this malware?

(2) I share an internet connection with my flatmate, and her computer has also been very slow recently. Is there a chance that the two computers have "cross-infected", and what's the best way handle a "double" infection?

Thanks again in advance,

Ste
