Full Version: Will Not Remove Critical Objects

I have Ad-Aware SE and it is up to date running with Windows Vista. I have tried over the last few days to complete the task after the scan. This is what I get after a scan.

16 objects recognized
16 new critical objects
14 registry keys identified
1 registry key values identified
1 filed identified
11 negligible

The problem begins when I click continue and select all to be wiped. I have nothing running, everything is closed including Outlook. The screen background changes, icons disappear then come back and my document folder opens and a message appears from Ad-Aware that says: “Some objects could not be removed. Try closing all open browser windows prior to the removal. If this does not help, reboot and run Ad-aware again.

C:\windows\sysltem 32\p2p
Networking V126.cpl

Do you want to let Ad-Aware remove them after the next reboot?

When I click yes and reboot nothing is removed. How do I fix the problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adware and nothing has changed.

Also, when I check the box to remove the 11 negligible objects it removes something that prevents me from hot syncing my Palm Treo and I have to reinstall my Palm software or do a system restore. Any ideas on this issue as well?

Hi, billydick62 ohmy.gif
SE isn't VISTA compatible.
To check other options, please take a look to >> http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?s...07&hl=Vista <<
I hope it helps.

Hi Raziel,

Thank you very much for answering my question, I really like Ad-Aware it is way ahead of anything else out there. I hope that they release the Vista update sooner than the 4th quarter of the year as I really miss using it.

Have a great day!

Billy

Hi billydick62 & nopl0x,

As Raziel states, AAW SE was released long before Vista and is therefore not officially compatible - AAW 2007 will be released shortly in compatability-mode for 32bit Vista and later in the year for 64bit Vista, at which time it will then be fully Vista compliant.

In the interim, you could try switching off the Aero feature for the duration of the scan, then re-enabling it afterwards - that has helped other posters (though their error often involved "TVstring").

We have had reports that Vista has worked with AAW SE on some systems but not on others - would appear to be down to your individual config.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Spike
