Full Version: Personal Firewall Won't Install On X64

The firewall installer (LavasoftFirewallInstall2.0.exe) stops with an error message, "This program can only be installed on versions of windows designed for the following processor architectures: x86". I've tried this with two different machines running winxp-64, each uses a different AMD chip (athlon 64, opteron 275).

Please advise.

Tak!

I have exactly the same problem and I can't get a response from Lavasoft Support, they do not seem to want to accept e-mails. I bought the package because the web page advertising Firewall 2.0 said "Windows 64-bit operating systems are now supported "
I have used Adware Free for several years and I formed a good impression of it and the company but now I am beginning to wonder if they are so good.
This post by matthewls is dated 17 May 2007, has 269 views and no responses, whats happening?
If Firewall 2.0 doesn't support x64 how do I negotiate a refund if I can't contact Lavasoft Support?
Added to all this the website is painfully slow.

i did this too but i got a extra few moths key code so i put it on my dads 32bit pro.

it would be nice to get the firewall work on x64 pro sp1 but they said are looking it to it.

Check the Product data sheet for Lavasoft Personal Firewall 2.0
https://secure.lavasoft.com/products/lavaso...al_firewall.php
It indicates that it is now supporting Windows 64 bit operating systems. (marked in red as: New!)

Calamity Jane, Thanks for the info. I have left two posts, the last one using your recomendations, but niether of them have appeared on the Forum. Lets see what happens to this one.

OK, the 64bit version is out. I've downloaded it and it seems to be working fine but it is only a 15 day trial version. It has not been recognized that I have already paid for it. I have e-mailed Support and have had an aknowledgement.

Hi johntn,

Ok, that post worked anyway smile.gif

Have you tried logging into the support center and look under your license info. Is there a link in there that says "email serial number" ?

If so, you can use that or if not, I expect Support will be sending you either the serial number or an unlock number

I'm not real sure how the firewall licensing works, but I'm glad the download link got fixed so you have the right version now.
