Full Version: Virus Which I Cannot Delete With Ad-aware Se

I think I have a real nasty virus on my hands, I'm not sure the extent of it but I know at least one part of it which I cannot delete. I used ad-aware and it immediately finds a virus in the Windows/system32 folder (it shows 1 critical virus msg under viruses found), but as soon as it finds this virus the computer restarts. I've tried running it in safe mode and the same thing happens.

I was able to stop the scan fast enough to check the name of the virus file it finds and I tried to delete it manually but I couldn't, it says another user or program is currently using the file so it cannot be deleted. The name of the file is "icpdsp.dll" and I tried to delete it manually, I tried to delete it in safe mode and in dos mode but keep getting the same message that another program is using the file so it cannot be deleted.

Is there anyway to delete this file and anything causing my computer to restart when ad-aware runs without reformatting the computer itself?

Thanks

Ad-aware doesn't have virus removal capabilities. It may find it, but can't delete it...use an antivirus software to remove it

here is an article that could help:

if you look around, you can get help with removing the malware..

it doesn't require reformatting in order to get rid of it..

here is a forum where you can pick up some tips on computer-security:
