Hi all, recently we seemed to pick up a trojan approximately March 26 2007 -- adirka.exe -- and maybe others. I don't know if from email, or a bad webpage. We have Macafee security which sometimes catches it but sometimes doesn't. We've also had others trojans which happen from time to time but nothing major.
So when the adirka showed up, I ran Adaware and it stopped in mid scan, and the computer froze up with the blue screen. I got things running again, tried to scan again, and same thing happened again. I got things running again, and decided to update Adaware and found the fourms here. After reading some of the forum entries, I went in and tried to shred the adirka.exe file. Maybe a mistake?? Now I still have adirka and others lurking around, and showing on scans form time to time, but I also can't shutdown, restart, or log off, without going to the blue dump screen. Also I go to bluescreen sometimes for no apparent reason, or if the computer is sitting idle. In one of the instances of the adirka.exe repeats, Macafee even allowed outbound access without my permission! Hopefully one of you can give me some ideas as I am at a loss and have told the wife and son to not mess with the computer until I can get this nailed down.
Thanks, Rabbitman

Ad Astra,
Sorry to keep you waiting so long. I had tried your suggestion, but it still had problems. About April 13 or 14 the computer wouldn't let me log into anything with ssl encription - even eBay. Then I found that I coulldn't download anything resembling a security type system, including downloads from Microsoft. I tried for a week or two with no success with any adjustments so I finally decided to wipe the drive and start over. I inserted the repair disc, the system reset, and all of the sudden, the system came back on it would not recognize my DVD drive. I tried to reinstall my drivers for the drive and the computer would not recognize them either. So then I put the disc into my remaining drive, restarted, and now it wouldn't recognize either drive. This was finally about the end of April.
I finally went to our local computer dealer to admit failure and have him try to salvage what he could. He said come back the next day, NO PROBLEM.
After two or three days of not ready yet, he finally called to say he was done. When I got there he said I had a very heavy duty downloader but wasn't sure of which one. He said at first he thought it to be gone, but when he hooked it to his Cisco system it promptly took over his system and locked it up for several hours. After cleaning his system out, he re-loaded mine and suggested using Avast instead of Macfee. So far I have had no problems, but I just wish I knew where it came from.
Again, thanks for your assistance
