Hi Fred,
Open Ad-Aware SE, click on the "Configuration Cog" and under "General Settings > Definitions" check that the "Consider Definitions Outdated" box has at least the (default) 14 days selected:
Click to view attachmentIf it does have that setting and you are still getting the out-of-date reminders when you start the program, try changing the number by 1 either way and then "Proceed".
You may also wish to use the Automatic Update feature in the Startup Settings:
