I have tried everything you listed in" Ad-aware Definition Update Problems" nothing worked and of coarse I've uninstalled and reinstalled and about ready to give up. Ad-aware has been flawless for years and I guess we are all spoiled be cause we have never experienced anything like this with your product . I hope a fix comes along soon. I'll be checking back soon.

Are you the free AD-AWARE SE
If so, uninstall, put your DNS settings back if you want to,
and download fom this link they put out the other day...
http://download.lavasoft.com/personal/aawsepersonal.exe
I used it and it works fine now. There is another thread about server down that we have all been on
for weeks until they fixed the software a couple of days ago (patched download).
Good luck.

I am also having trouble with that "error retrieving update" msg at 5%. On the Ad-aware box, there is an icon for Help which directs you to a website which addresses this issue directly. but I did all 5 things suggested there, and still have the problem. My def file is 1.29.07... and I can't figure out how to update it.
I also have loved ad-aware for yrs, and hope there will be some fix for this.
