I see the time on the forums is somewhere between 15 to 17 minutes slower than my computer time. Would that change difference on the server be causing the lag?
Ai_Tak
I reported the time lag a few weeks ago and now it is within one minute of the correct time, are you still seeing it as slow?
Jacee
Well it was within one minute of my time, but I'm on daylight savings time and there is a conflict here huh.gif
This is what I see: The time (including your current adjustment) is: Mar 24 2007, 06:53 PM ...and my actual time is 7:10 pm

For me, the Board reads 4.31pm and my actual time is 4.43pm (and we have just come out of daylight saving... sad.gif )

Hi Jacee,

This is a known issue at the Server and has been corrected numerous times, but the time difference keeps reappearing after numerous resets. They are aware of it and working on it.

I believe this is a separate issue from the problem with slow loading pages. They are aware of that too.

Hopefully, these can be found and corrected soon!

@spike-nz: Are you saying that your Daylight Saving Time is an issue as well? There is a setting to apply Daylight Savings Time to your personal board settings under *My Controls*

It is under the section:
DST Correction Auto correct DST?
(If selected, your DST setting is automatically adjusted when you next load the board index)
You can just checkmark that box to have it automatically adjust your settings to accomodate Daylight Savings Time smile.gif

Hi Janie,

No, no problem with DST - have that setting selected (end of DST means that our summer is over ... sad.gif )

Just noting the varying time lags between the Board and our actual time - the slow loading is more pressing and something that I hope they can correct soon smile.gif

I just noticed something; the forum server isn't doing any "connection: keep-alive", only "connection: close", it is making the browsers make a new connections for every file request (every image, every css file, everything). I loaded a thread with a single post, my browser made 57 tcp connections to the server to load the page. This is hard on the forum users because it is leaving lots of tcp connections in the time_wait state, and it is hard on the server because instead of having 2-6 tcp connections per page load per user, it has 50+.

Thanks for this info Ai_Tak!

I'll pass it along in hopes it might help pinpoint the problem!

I'm seeing improvements on both this server and the beta server now that connections are keep-alive.

I thought I would add my one two cents.

This board is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Trying to get through all the threads is near to impossible. You really need to increase bandwidth or use servers that can actually handle the traffic. Thanks.

Hello Rincewind,

You are responding to a topic that is over 3 months old. The original problems were corrected at the server level some time ago.

The latest slow down you are seeing here in June is a result of a record number of members joining and posting since the release of the new version Ad-Aware 2007. Our IT staff has already made some adjustments to accommodate the slow down due to the sheer numbers of posters have caused for now and we expect this to be a temporary inconvenience due to the heavy traffic. Things should calm down to a "normal" level in a few weeks time.

Meanwhile, we do have an eye on this and ask your patience while we try to address the problem of slow-downs currently being experienced.

The main page (www.lavasoft.com) loads very slow, until the Java Plug-in gets started....

lavasoftsupport.com must be the web's slowest website. I just now left my machine to get a cup of coffee and came back to see the page still loading. And LavaSlow has been aware of the problem since March - a real disgrace!

Hello Stuart,

Welcome to the Forums and thanks for posting. smile.gif

What you are seeing is new. I have just been noticing this myself and was wondering if it was just me (my connection) or if it was a possible glitch in the forum software or an IT problem with the website, so I have reported this problem to our IT department to look into.

This is NOT the same problem as was reported in March (that was long since fixed)

I can appreciate your frustration with slow loading pages, however, please be aware that we do address these problems as soon as they are noticed and reported. From time to time you can expect there may be a problem at some point with either a website or, especially, in a forum website. Sometimes there are issues with the software that need fixing or it may be a problem with website itself. These problems are common at any time, any website on the internet.

So just because you are reading a very old topic (long since solved the original reported problem), you are posting about a new problem really and it has not been ignored "since March"

I think I'd better go ahead and close this topic to new replies so that the next time there is a problem, people should post a new topic and not be confused by posting in this now very old one.
LS CalamityJane
Opened topic just to add: It appears the problem is now fixed smile.gif
