Okay, take me for a fool or whatever, but I think something's wrong with my Ad-Aware. It used to pick up all sorts of things, and ever since I made an update about a month ago it doesn't pick up a thing. I could come from the fact that I've stopping spending hours on MySpace or something, but it seems a little too good to be true that is picks up nothing else from the dozens of websites I go on every day.

Post a HijackThis log.

Go to www.spywareinfoforum.info and click SOFTWARE near the top of the page, then look at spyware or adware
detection, or some such. One of them describes the various sofware. Hijackthis is used by a lot of companies
including Norton, to do a thorough checkout of your system. Note that I have never used it, but I have heard
of it, and so I followed his link to see where it went, and I just reported it to you. I do not know if it will try to
remove anything it finds, but I would hope that you could tell it not to.
Ask him if he wants ay special settings for the run, etc.
By the way, if you have current firewall and security software, and don't answer yes to install stuff,
AD-AWARE and SPYBOT never find anything on my system except Alexa.
Doesn't AD-AWARE find ALEXA? I am running the free AD-AWARE SE, which has to be maually
run. I just wanted to get you started. Ask him again about what settings (if there are any)
for Hijackthis. Good Luck.

I have no idea what any of the above means either, but I have the same problem as you Alissa. My Ad Aware SE has been working fine for over a year, always finds at least 10+ cookies. These days it is finding nothing. Something is up, as I haven't changed any settings, added any software, let Microsoft make updates, etc.

if you are blocking third-party cookies, one way or another, that might explain why ad-aware is not finding anything..

you can check your cookie setttings in IE/tools/options/"privacy".. you should have IE set to block third-party cookies, but they can also be blocked individually.. if you use spybot's "immunization" or "spywareblaster", both of those programs will add blocks for individual third-party cookies.. with win xpsp2, you can see them listed if you click "sites", in IE/tools/options/privacy..
