I hope that I am posting this to the right place it is my first post.

Over the last few days I have been experiencing problems from what I presume is some kind of virus. When I go on to Google and select a search result I end up at a completely different website to that requested. Going back to Google and selecting again usually cures the problem. The problem also happens when following links from other sites.

I have Norton Internet Security and ran a full scan, this discovered and resolved a couple of Trojans, but the problem persisted. Belt and braces ran Norton again, no futher viruses detected.
I then ran a full scan of Ad-Adware SE Personal. What I found happened was that it got stuck on a particular folder
Documents and Settings \Tony\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files
The program didn't stop or crash it just never did anything even leaving for an hour!
I went into Windows Explorer and found this folder and tried to delete the contents of that folder but with very little success. Each time I entered delete I got the "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" window. If I then go back into Windows Explorer just clicking on this folder I get the problem encountered window, I can only get into the folder again after rebooting.
A couple of points I have noted when I use Ad-Aware to do a customised scan none of the subfolders in this folder are shown. I also wonder (paranoid) if the Problem Encountered window is genuine, as if I say send details it says it has sent even if I am off-line!

Anybody any ideas as to what is happening and how I can resolve

Post a hijackthis log. Some of this seems familiar, a hijackthis log should point it out.

Also, please go into your norton reports section and open the log viewer, go to the security risks subsection and export the catagory, and attach that file to your next post.
