help please i have used ad aware for a long time and have really liked the product.
I had a scan hang issue a year ago which was quickly resolved by an uninstall and re-install.
how ever now i had gotten error message even attempting to update which reads as follows
"error connecting to service Please retry updating at another time"
after several retries and scan hanging at 44589 items. I have to do control alt delete to close out the non responding prob.

I have scoured throught the forums here and have tried all the solutions listed to no avail any help in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciatted.

What version of ad-aware do you have?

Ad-Aware SE Personal build 1.06r1

i have tried everything listed here, plus suggestions from a pc freind. i was able to run and Complete the scan in safe mode, but not the update. From waht I am reading here it appears the may be a Lava soft issue?
i even uninstalled and went to tucows to do a reinstall and got same results as in my original post. disabled my firewall and attempted to run scan and update same results

I don't know what happened to the manual download, I will post my defs file, unzip it and copy it to your ad-adware directory.

Thanks I unzipped and copied, still same results tho, no connect to update server and scan ran a little longer but hung up at 69544 items. Thanks again for your attempt to help
