Hi there!

I currently enjoy the benefits of using Ad-aware SE Personal but think that as a courtesy, we should be notified of the update file size in megabytes, especially if you have a limit on downloads and want to monitor your download activity.

Is this too much to ask?

Hi Bellaboo,

There are two ways to find out the size of the current Definitins File in Ad-Aware SE.

The first is to navigate to the default location of Ad-Aware SE - C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE (please change if you installed to a different path). There you will see the size of both the current Definitions (defs.ref) and the back-up of the previous file (defs.ref.old), as per this screenshot:

As shown here, it is likely that there will be a small increase in file size each time, due to updated/added target signatures (at least this tells you the likely size of the next Update).

Alternatively, open Ad-Aware SE and in the "Initialisation Status" pane, click on "Details":

That will bring up far more detailed information about not only the total Defs size, but also of it's components:

As advised in Lavasoft Support Forums > Lavasoft - Announcements > Ad-Aware 2007 , the new Build of Ad-Aware will be release soon. It may be that your request will be implemented in the new Build.

Perhaps you may wish to post a new Topic on the subject in Lavasoft Support Forums > Lavasoft - General Support > Forum Suggestions, which is monitored by Lavasoft Staff (as well as volunteers like myself).

Regards,

Spike
