Hi there,
I am so frustrated because everytime I try to run ad-aware after downloading the latest updates, it freezes during a scan. I have been trying for at least a month to try to get it to run and never any results. What happens is it changes from scanning local registry to deep scanning local registry just fine. Once it says deep scanning, and it changes from scanning possible browser hijacks attempts to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\... then it freezes everytime. Today for example when i tried running the Smart System Scan, it stopped at 31,050 files scanned the first time, then the second time stopped at 31,019. I treid performing the full system scan and that stopped at 30,981. When it freezes I can not cancel or do anything but hit CTRL ALT DEL, and end it because it says program not responding.
I ran avast a little while ago, and deleted 19 items. I saved a print screen of the results. I will attach that file. I also tried running Spybot, and after immunizing and once it started the scan, that too freezes. I used to be able to run both ad-aware and spybot without any problem. For the past month or two, everytime I click on a link, it takes me to millions of other different search result sites, like lycos search, google results, etc, and i am sick of it!! My computer normally runs pretty fast and its really dragging. Its just ridiculous. Oh and I also use EasyCleaner to remove temporary internet files, history, cookies, and unnecessary files. Last week I defragmented the computer, and now I am just out of options. I don't know what to do, can someone please help me???? I included as much info as I possibly could. I forgot to say that I have tried running ad-aware in safemode, same result. I tried the command line ("C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe" +procnukep) and tried running it using the full scan and smart scan, both didnt work. I tried using filemon, but when i downloaded it and tried running it I got the message "your account does not have the debug programs privelage which is required to run filemon." So hopefully thats helps in giving you an idea of how retarded this thing is, lol.

It looks like you are/were dealing with Ruins, this one acts like a rootkit and that may explain why your Adaware is crashing.
Also, I guess you have admin rights on this account? Because programs like filemon require that you are logged in as an admin. Let me know, because it could be possible that we have to grant sedebugprivileges to admin again.
* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4514D009-7EC7-4DA9-5C8F-B01BE62EB71C} - mozilla-text.dll (file missing)
O1 - Hosts: localhost 127.0.0.1
* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.
Also, can you search if next file exists on your system? Ntrights.exe
Normally it is present by default on windows 2000, included in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit. Let me know, because we may need that later.

Sorry it took so long to respond, i went on vacation, but I did what you told me to. I am logged in as an admin, thats the only user account I have on the computer. I ran hijackthis, removed the two items and also ran Fixwareout. I will post both logs. I did a search for ntrights.exe, and i couldn't find it. So here are the logs, I hope you can help. Double click on the Debug.bat file to run it, follow any prompts it asks.
REBOOT
Doubleclick the Debug.bat again after reboot.
It will create a log.
If the log says:
"Granting SeDebugPrivilege to Administrators ... successful", you must be ok and things restored well.
