Dear all

While I thank you for providing a great free product, I am quite frustrated that the update of the definitions file does not work properly anymore. Since about 6 months, I have noticed (yes, I have read all in the FAQ, have reinstalled Ad-Aware, tried the manual update etc.).

Every time I update, sometimes Ad-Aware shows the correct defs.ref, then after starting Ad-Aware again, it goes back to the old ref nr. It seems that the piece of software that reads the ref nr out of defs.ref does not do the job properly. Right now I think it has to do with some registry keys in Windows that might not be updated correctly. Why? Because after reinstalling I got a very old defs.ref from May 2005. Then I downloaded the actual ref 147. When restarting I was back at the 144. Must be the registry that keeps track and confuses the module that reads the ref nr and displays it in the status window. So Bill Gates to blame again LOL! Please have a look into this, thanks.

It would be really great if the product became more stable again, thanks a lot!

Best
