I'm a computer novice, and know very little compared to the rest of you!!! My other half accepted some programme download which started sending emails to everyone. We managed to stop it by shutting down the computer. I then carried out an Ad-adware scan which found 'win32.worm.warezov' but couldn't remove it. It's not even been quarantined. Can anyone help in a 'simple' way to remove it. Or is it OK to just leave it until Ad-adware produces a way of removing it in the future. Microsoft don't even recognise it if I put it into their Search box, neither do Symantic. Is this worm known by some other name?? HELP.

Hello,monnydite & Welcome

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log in your next reply.

Please do not run any other options until you are asked to do so.

Also show me an updated Ad-Aware Se logfile and HijackThis logfile
if not sure how to do about this look at the two links in the quote box
at the bottom of my page.

Hello HJ and thank you so much for your reply.

Think I'll get my head round this in the morning as it's all a bit scary... remember I did say I was a novice!!! Just one question though. Although my computer is running rather slowly... it's never been particularly fast (we are on Broadband, not dial-up, for email) could this WORM just be left alone, or does it actually do damage of some kind. So should I REALLY be trying to remove it instead of burying my head in the sand!!!????????

Hi,monnydite

Yes this is something you don't want on the PC at all problmes or not
and i would remove it as soon as you have the time.
but do as i asked so we know for sure it's on the PC you may have
more stuff that needs to go.
