I just installed Ad-Aware build 1.06r1 and did a full scan for the first time. I'm still learning...

I then ran my usual Norton Anti-Virus 2004, v10.0.1.13, and it found two adware files: C:\recycler\nprotect\00080033.exe and ...\00080034.dll.

I then ran Spybot Search & Destroy. It, too, failed to report either of those files (or anything else) as adware.

Two questions:

1. Any thoughts why NAV found them but Ad-Aware did not?
2. Any thoughts on why NAV can't delete them?

Norton AntiVirus 2004 detected them because they are in the Norton Protected Recycle Bin.

You can empty the Norton Protected Recycle Bin by doing this:

Load Norton AntiVirus 2004
Click on Options
Click on Advanced Tools
Click on the second Modify button
Click on Empty Protected Files

You can also choose to disable the Norton Protected Recycle Bin from here.
