Full Version: Location of settings.awc and awsettings.awc files?

Greetings,

I'm trying to deploy AdAwareSe 1.06 via Group Policies. The MSI installs fine, but I also would like to deploy some custom settings. I can setup AdAwareSE, and I find a settings.awc file in:

c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\LavaSoft\Ad-Adware

I copied that file to another location. When I install on another (clean) computer, I tried copying the settings file to the same place on the new machine, but AdAware won't pick up the settings.

Is there a registry setting I can use to tell it where to find its settings file? If not, where do I put the settings file so it gets picked up when I run AdAware?

Thank you.
Jason

Hi

It sounds right what you are doing. First thought is ad-aware and ad-watch running when you copy the two setttings files? If so they are probably over writing your copied files when they close. Try copying the settings files when neither ad-aware and ad-watch are running, then restart the applications. Do they read the new settings OK this way?

Another thought, the settings are on a per user basis so ensure the settings files are distributing to the user actually running ad-aware and ad-watch.
