My computer running XP Home has recently become infected with the following file: c:\windows\system32\atmclk.exe

It has produced unwanted pop-ups and repeated warnings of "Virus Infection, click here to solve"...etc. etc. Running Norton Antivirus hasn't rooted it out and Ad-aware SE has identified it, but then sais that it is unable to delete it. I have tried a system search and found the program, but when I attempt to delete it, a warning window appears saying it is not able to be deleted because it is in use by another user. The program produces a yellow warning triangle with exclamation mark in it and a red "stop" circle on my lower toolbar on my desktop. Clicking on the yellow triangle icon brings me to the "spyfalcon" home page and asks for free "analysis" and then a paid download of software. Clicking on the red stop symbol also brings me to the same kind of page. Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of this .exe file?

Hello... you can try running the ad-aware scan in safe mode....

Failing that, try "Process Explorer" from Sysinternals to kill it.... then do your ad-aware scan. Sounds like this one has been written to stay sad.gif
