After installing Internet Explorer 7, Ad-Aware SE Plus no longer locates any objects (cookies, etc.) to be quarantined. Is there a known conflict between the two software programs and, if so, a resolution? I don't know whether Ad-Aware is working correctly, but before installing IE7 it always found objects. Any help will be very much appreciated. Sandy

Hi sjwagnon,

I use both AAW SE Plus and IE7 and have found no conflicts between the two. Ad-Aware SE only detects Tracking cookies (harmless but annoying text files) - IE7 has more sophisticated filters and protection features than earlier versions of IE. To see the many ways that it controls (or can be set to control) cookies, open IE7, click on Help > Contents and Index, then in the Search pane type in the word "cookies".

The default path for cookies on your system is C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Cookies - navigate there with Windows Explorer and look and see which cookies are actually on your system. Remember that some sites (such as Internet Banking etc) require cookies in order for you to access their services properly.

Apart from tracking cookies, what objects does the "etc" refer to?

Spike, I just ran another scan and it did locate cookies this time. The "etc." refers to my ignorance smile.gif Thanks for your informative response. Sandy

Hi Sandy,

You're welcome smile.gif

Whenever you install/update a program, it is worth the short time required to have a quick look through the Help file - at times, I've discovered capabilities that I might never have thought of, that way cool.gif

Spike
