Hello,
I am tring to load Macafee, but I am having a problem removing Ad-Aware. I have read 2 of your other posts, but still no success. When I try to uninstall Ad-Aware, it takes me into an open window, and has my documents in the pull down, but Lavasoft / Ad-Aware is not there, at the bottom pull downs, (file name; INSTALL and Files of Type; INSTALLATION LOGS). I can not do anything with this. I have installed Ad-Aware 2 times and rebooted and have installed BitDefender and nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!!

Hello,sdtransam & Welcome

Just need to know why would you need to uninstall Ad-Aware to install/load Macafee.?
and as far as i can tell you can goto ControlPanel Add/Remove Programs for this.

I'm just an everyday user and I have installed Ad-Aware on ever machine I use-home and work. I also had my boss load it on his machines. Can't imagine un-installing it...ever.

Hello

This problem is due to a compability problem in McAfee's software, I believe that they should have released a new installer (patch) correcting this problem. I suggest you contact McAfee's support and ask for the patch.

Hi AMW1020,

LSDaniel is correct that it is a problem caused by McAfee - however, the problem is that depending on where/how you purchased McAfee and which version (ie: before the patch was issued), you may have to uninstall Ad-Aware SE completely, install and update McAfee, then re-load Ad-Aware. This is a problem that several users have encountered, as McAfee just tells them to uninstall Ad-Aware.

See my post in this Topic (similar subject): Help me remove ad-aware se personal (temporarily), need removal tool

There is a link to a McAfee Forum Topic that contains regedit instructions to enable the removal of all traces of Ad-Aware. (As always, be very careful when using regedit - back-up the registry before you start).

Regards,

Spike
