I have a question about the Ad-Aware SE Personnal (feebie). Here is the situation:

I work at a school district and we have separated our network to improve thorugh put and bandwith applications. Each campus has it's own "Real IP" and our Admin staff also has it's own "Real IP" separating our students from our administrators. Our ISP has given us 15 real IPs that we can use for any application that we need to use.

Here is the thing:

Everyone that is on the Admin IP is able to get the Ad-Aware SE defs update and has no problems. The campus and practically everyone else that is not on the Admin IP can not start the update on the Ad-Aware SE program. What everyone else has to do is go to the Lavasoft web site and download/install the new defs.ref file manually.

Does LAVASOFT block certain IP from accessing the DEFS.REF file from there server???

If you need more details in order to answer my question please post.

Thanks in advance for any information or solution.

Hi

I doubt very much that Lavasoft are blocking your IP address range. A more likely option is that the users on the non-Admin IP address range are going through a different firewall and/or proxy server route to those on the Admin IP range and that this is where the block is occuring.

Hi!

Don't know about the IP-blocking (wouldn't think so?), but you should not use the Freeware Ad-Aware on a school.. License agreement says

"Note: Ad-Aware Free (previously referred to as Ad-Aware SE Personal) is not available for commercial use. If you are not a personal home user, un-install Ad-Aware Free (freeware) and visit www.lavasoft.com for available products."
