Full Version: Error message when starting Adaware SE - can't run

I am running Win98 and have a severe spyware problem. I've run ccleaner, norton, stinger and although most of the pop-ups have stopped, I still get spyware as my home page.

This is the message I get when double-clicking on Adaware icon:

Uninstall your old Ad-aware first then install SE
Reboot (ie: Re-start your PC)
Please can you try at least two if not more of these On-line scans
Panda
Symantec
McAfee
TrendMicro
Bit Defender
RAV
Kaspersky
CommandonDemand
Computer Associates
CyberTechHelp
PC Pitstop
Stinger
a2
or download and try
TrojanHunter (Note Trojan Scanner 30 day Trial)
Then once you have done clear out your cache folder again ie: Run
CCleaner
(Note in CCleaner: go to >options > advanced > Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"). but see CCleaner Set up
Then redownload a fresh copy of
Ad-aware SE Build 106 (Note if you use the paid for versioin you will need your registration details)
once installed use the WebUpDate
to get the latest Definition file
(SE1R107 09.05.2006) then scan doing a "Full Scan" and then post your logfile here by using the Add-Reply Feature .

I'm trying... half of these on-line scans are telling me my ActiveX controls are not enabled, but They Are...

take your time there no rush, well apart form you wanting that rubbish off your PC.

Double check just to make sure that you are not blocking them.
