Hi,
I just ran Adaware for the first time and it lists Script Sentry as a vulnerability:

Windows Object Recognized!
Type : RegData
Data : c:\program files\script sentry\scriptsentry.exe "%1" %*
TAC Rating : 3
Category : Vulnerability
Comment :
Rootkey : HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Object : regfile\shell\open\command
Value :
Data : c:\program files\script sentry\scriptsentry.exe "%1" %*

I am confused about this. Should I let Adaware fix this?

Also, what does this one mean:

Windows Object Recognized!
Type : RegData
Data :
TAC Rating : 3
Category : Vulnerability
Comment :
Rootkey : HKEY_USERS
Object : .DEFAULT\software\policies\microsoft\internet explorer\control panel
Value : Homepage
Data :

I would appreciate any advice about these two items. Thank you.

Sincerely, Libra
LS CalamityJane
Hi Libra! I'd recognize that signature anywhere biggrin.gif

No, you don't need to fix those. Ad-Aware is pointing them out because they differ from the default values set by Windows, likely by your other security software (do you use Registry Mechanic?)

Those are an area often targeted by malware and often therefore also locked or protected by security software. They program can't tell if those are good entries or bad entries so it notifies you as a "vulnerability" but they look ok to me smile.gif I think you can just put them on your ignore list.

Hi Calamity Jane!

smile.gif I'm glad you recognized me.

Thank you so much for explaining what those entries are and that I don't have to remove them. I appreciate your help very much. (I'm running the scan you requested right now and will post it in the other thread.)

Sincerely, Libra

You're welcome, Libra! Good to see you here BTW smile.gif

I'll catch up to you in the other thread
