Hi everybody...
Hope you can help me....
I run a pc and laptop repair business and part of my services include spyware removal etc...

Questions:-

Is it okay for me to do the following with ad-aware Personal edition?:

1.Download ad-aware Personal edition to my PC.
-Run the setup program.
-Open the ad-aware Personal edition program.
-Get the updates.Close the program.
-Go to drive "C",then program files.
-Copy the 'lavasoft' folder and then:-

2. Paste this folder to CDROM and have this as my master copy of ad-aware Personal edition.
- Once on CDROM I would copy the 'lavasoft' folder onto my non business use customers PC's and run the program from there.

I need to do it like this as sometimes it is impossible to get a internet connection so I cant update ad-aware Personal edition database via the internet.

I dont want to infringe any license agreements so please can you tell me everything above would be above board.....I would appreciate it if you didnt just send a link to the license agreement as this doesnt help with my queries above....

Many Thanks
Andy

Surely you'd want the installer. Copying a program's folder from one computer to another is not good practise. If you wanted to be able to install Ad-Aware on multiple PCs, then just burn the installer to a CD, or copy it onto a USB memory stick. If you did the latter, you'd also be able to keep replacing the reference file to ensure you always had the latest one.

So in other words:
Download and burn Ad Aware personal to CD.Use this to install from when downloading on the customers PC.
When I set Ad Aware personal up on a customers PC have an updated reference file on another Disk/CD and install this over the reference file on the customers PC?
Is that what you're saying...Okay, if so Questions:

1. Is it okay to keep a copy of Ad Aware personal on CD to use as my master installation disk(in other words can I freely distribute and use the program like this for personal/noncommercial customers PC's...I'm not sure whether the program comes under freeware and if so what that legally lets you do?
I dont charge for the program itself but just for the labour to set it up....any help would be greatly appreciated.
2.What can I offer my business use customers?

Cheers

I agree with ___ and say why not just download the aawsepersonal.exe to a USB device (or other device that you use ie:CD/RW) just remember to also download manually the latest Definition file
(SE1R107 09.05.2006) to the same device

Hello. In response to your question. I believe that Ad-Aware is one of the few applications that you actually can do this. However, if you run it from the CD, be aware that it will most likely create a settings folder for the NT user account that is logged in at this time.

I would like to point out though that if you are using this for commercial purposes such as cleaning spyware of your customers' computers, you may not do this due to licensing restrictions. However, if it is for non-commercial private purposes such as helping out friends, or cleaning your own machine(s), then it is ok

Let us know how that works out, I dont think it is tried that often...

Thanks
