Full Version: computer does not boot successfully and reboots again and again

Rajesh
Last month I downloaded latest version of ADWARE and scanned my laptop for any spyware.
ADWARE successfully scanned and prompted to reboot, as it could not remove some malware because they were running as live processes.Adware mentioned that it would remove these malware during next reboot.

While I pressed OK to reboot, laptop was accidentally powered off.

When I restarted my laptop it showed a blue screen for a split second and rebooted again. Now My laptop does not boot either in "last known good configuration" or in "SAFE Mode".

It seems the ADWARE might have been doing some changes in the booting sequence to take care of the malware, which It could not remove during its scanning, while the laptop got accidentally powered off.

I tried to use recovery CD also, but while laptop was booting from recovery CD it rebooted while it was downloading some drivers from CD. After that if I try to reboot using recovery CD it immediately reboots again this time even without reaching to the stage of drivers downloading.

I am now stuck, as there is only one HDD in LAPTOP.
Is there any way to reboot LAPTOP by some other means and access this HDD.

Though I have an option to reformat and reinstall OS, yet I would like to recover it from the fault caused due to damage in the booting sequence while ADWARE was preparing to reboot after scanning.

Thanks in advance for a genuine advice from anyone.

Hi

Does the PC in question have a floppy disk drive? If so do you have access to a second PC running Windows on which you could create a bootable floppy disk? If so try booting from a bootable floppy disk as this will help if the initial bootstrap files are corrupted.

Also can you boot into safe mode with command prompt? This loads very little so if this will boot that is a good start.

See this Microsoft article if you need help booting into safe mode

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222/

and try selecting the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option.
