Just recently Adaware stops scanning when it reaches files from Symantec Anti Virus. I have Ad Aware version 1.6. and it used to work fine before. Definition from 14.Nov.06.

I have seen a thread "Unable to complete scan" which looks similar.
Since it is a bit complciated, just wondere if there was a known problem between Adaware and Symantec Anti-virus as well as a (simpe ) solution?

A second option, though not as thorough would be to perform a custom scan as set out in my post in this Topic: Ad-Aware SE Hangs While Scanning Shared DLLs, Hangs indefinitely -- unable to complete scans!

Well I think I have done everything I have read about on this forum:

- Latest version and latest file definition
- Ran checkdisk (Windows XP home) and defragmented (after I had cleaned the disk from useless files)
- Scanned PC with three websites engines
- Stopped Adaware before it froze, eliminated spyware and re.-started. Still froze
- Scanned with "Unload required modules during scan" unchecked. Froze at same place
(Of course I have not scanned exculuing file involved in the "freeze". Still eager to solve the problem...)

Check your symantec event logs for entries the corresponds with the time of the scan and post them back here. Also, since this sounds like the corporate edition of symantec, are you the one that manages and configures your symantec update/config server, and if it's not you, what do they have to say about this?

Hi jgl51, I do not understand why you think that a Custom Scan is not an important step.

It worked fine for the poster in this Topic just a few days ago: Ad-aware still freezes while deep scanning registry, and yes I've tried everything suggested already.
