Hi,

I have a free adaware.

I can't download the new definitions file (dated November 2, number 130).

I keep getting:

"The downloaded definitions file could not be read. Please update again."

There is a new IP in my webupdate log. This IP - 82.99.19.12 - never appeared in any of my logs until November 2. It has no reverse DNS. My hosts file is unchanged since December 2004, is read-only, and protected by ZoneAlarm - so I am not being referred to this IP by my hosts file.

My two threads are UN-related.

One thread is about my difficulties with the definitions file.

THIS thread is about a mysterious IP address that appears in the logs.

I still don't have an answer:

What is this IP address? Why is Webupdate redirecting to this address?

My hosts file is clean and hasn't been alatered since December 2004.

That's because the servers have been moved for definition updates and that is the 82.99.19.xx address you see in your update logs. Due to DNS problems some folks were not able to get their update through the webupdate button, however, as the DNS issues are resolved - folks are now starting to get their updates depending on their location, ISP, etc.
