Hi folks,

After spending around a week here it is quite clear that we get vastly more requests for help than the number of people actually able to help out. As a rule (and I know I have not been at it long so any other opinions would be appreciated) I answer the oldest post thats younger than about 5/6 days (as anything over that I don't think that the OP is likely to come back!).

It might be an idea to start a topic somewhere that people can post a link to their topic if nobody has answered them in at least 4 days. That way, the helpers can go through these older subjects knowing they are not wasting time on something that will never be read.

Just a suggestion, and any thoughts/comments on it would be appreciated!

Trist.

Tristian,

I agree. I posted a question asking for help 14 days ago, and now that post is on page 8 with no hope of ever being answered. If this is any indication of Lavasoft Tech Support, maybe I should reconsider an upcoming purchase of a Lavasoft product. unsure.gif

This forum is mostly run by volunteers, and there are a lot of posts to go through! Sometimes posts do get missed. What is the link to your message and I will see if I can help?

Unfortunately, that seems to still be the case. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for these forums, as I have learned quite a bit just from reading here, and recently was the only time I felt necessary to ask for help from someone more knowledgeable about these things. I also appreciate the opportunity to ask for guidance with these types of issues, but it is disheartening to watch your thread asking for help sink deeper into the forums, with many views, but no replies, while some newer posts recieve much quicker attention. I come here because I've used the adaware product for some time, and it's a product I trust. It's just difficult to be patient when you know something is definately wrong with your computer. I think Tristian suggestion could be helpful, as it would give those of us who are waiting a place to say "hey, I'm still around, and still need help" without spamming with a repost, bump or whatnot.

If this is any indication of Lavasoft Tech Support,

This forum is for vounteer-based peer support for the Ad-Aware user community. As Tristian pointed out, we are volunteers, not LS staff (although some of the devs do monitor some sections of the forum - you can tell who they are by the "LS" infront of their name).

Those with licensed (paid-for) versions of Ad-Aware are entitled to free Tech Support through the LS Support Center

Regards,

Spike
LS Joakim
Just as Spike mentioned, this forum is intended as a supportbase for the free-version userbase, and as a place where people can spread knowledge and tips. Plus & Pro users are as said above entitled to support from our Support center.

We do however monitor this forum to the best of our abilities. :-)

(Bear in mind, I'm not with support!)

As volunteers we come from a variety of backgrounds, levels of expertise, and areas of specialization/interest, not to mention capability. (I typically don't answer plus/pro questions as I have no experience with either). We also have limited time to devote here.

Hi, I'm a newbie here also and I greatly appreciate what you do...especially as a volunteer. However, I do feel there should be somewhere where you can go, as mentioned above, to ensure that you don't fall through the cracks or get skipped as we are all human. I've only been on here for a few days and have no idea how long the wait is going to be but if it's going to take 2 weeks to get a response, that's kind of important to know and if your status of newbie to member to advance member makes a difference also. Just some thoughts.

Hi sirneedshelpnow,

Your Topic (I need serious help) is in the specialist malware section of the forum - HijackThis Logs.

Firstly, you did not follow the "sticky" at the top of that sub-forum - IMPORTANT: Before You Post Read This!

This gives instructions for posting a diagnostic HijackThis log, which will be the first thing that our volunteer malware experts will request - I suggest that you read that "sticky" and edit your initial post to include the required log using copy/paste:

Please use "Full Edit" as above - if you add another post to the Topic, it may be viewed the volunteer experts (who are over-stretched as it is) as already being responded to. The oldest unanswered topics are answered first.

Not at all - what is required is patience. There may be some delay, but you will be responded to.

Hi Spike, Thank you for letting me know my error. I was pretty jolted over this experience and didn't read the sticky. I went to edit my post but don't have edit or delete buttons. If you like, please delete my original post and I'll repost with the hijack list properly displayed and will re-wait my turn in line. Thanks again for your assistance and response. I REALLY DO APPRECIATE ALL YOU GUYS & GALS DO!
