Now this may sound a bit metaphysical , but that's what is going on :

I have Ad Aware SE personal installed in both my computers at home and at work.

Both computers had problems updating to the new definition files early October but eventually the problem was resolved for my office computer that downloaded it and installed it properly.

Since the problem was persisting in my home computer , I uninstalled Ad Aware downloaded it again and reinstalled it . No results whatsoever appart from the fact that now the definitions file was more than a year old . The web update still goes to 5% then 30% and then after a few seconds i get "error retrieving update ".

So as my last resort i tried to manually update . I went to lavasoft.com that showed that the latest def file was something like 16-09-2006 and tried to manually download it . No result . The link was dead and it kept forwarding me to a no functional page .

So next morning I come at my office , type "lavasoft.com" and what a surprise !!! The browser gets me to a different looking fully functional website ( this one ) , with newer def files (10-2006) which i can download etc.

Please people what's wrong with my computer at home ? Has it been infected somehow , how may i know it and what do i have to do to protect it ?

How is it possible by typing the same address ( lavasoft.com ) to be navigated to two different sites depending on the computer i'm working on ?

Please HELP !!!

First of all thanks for the reply Spike.

I will download the new def file from my office computer and try to manually update my home computer this afternoon . Hope that this will work. All other solutions you propose did not have any positive result .

But the issue remains : Why by typing lavasoft.com at home I keep get navigated to the old non functional lavasoft site ? How is it possible to overcome this ?

Try adding it to yours - may stop the re-directing
