Hi,

My virus scan initially found a trojan.abwiz.f virus on my computer which Symantec Corporate antivirus could not clean. I deleted all available registry files that I could find as indicated by the online Symantec fix including the trojan removal tool, however, the virus/worm persists and Adaware identifies all of the registy files but cannot delete them. I continaully run the scan over and over again, Adaware says it cleans the files but the files still remain. I do not know what to do and need somebody's help.

JB3,
Please can you try at least two if not more of these On-line scans
Panda
Symantec
McAfee
TrendMicro
Bit Defender

Kaspersky
CommandonDemand
Computer Associates
CyberTechHelp
PC Pitstop
Stinger

or download and try
TrojanHunter (Note Trojan Scanner 30 day Trial)
Then once you have done clear out your cache folder again ie: Run
CCleaner
(Note in CCleaner: go to >options > advanced > Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"). but see CCleaner Set up

then rescan with Ad-aware doing a "Full Scan" and post your logfile here by using the "Add-reply" feature
If needed here's how to post your Ad-aware Logfile wink.gif

Here’s how to copy your Ad-aware log
click my computer
click local C Drive
then Click Program Files
then Click Lavasoft
then click Ad-aware SE
and then Logs,
find the latest one that you have
(by date & time)
and open it right Click select all
copy and then paste the contents of it here.
(Make sure that all of your Logfile has been posted, sometimes it will require two post's to get it all)
I recommend that you use the WebUpDate just before you scan that way you will always be up to date.

Hey Grafx!

You are the best! Thank you so much. I feel bad though because the log file is not where it should be so I cannot post it in the "add reply" section as you asked...I ran Panda, which found a trojan, and then ran the Trojan Hunter which found two more and then the final CCleaner. I updated the Adaware, ran it-->No objects, and went to post the log file, but it is nowhere to be found. Either way, thank you I really appreciate your help with this and would most certainly buy you a beer anytime! =smile.gif

hay please do not feel bad you may of just told your Ad-aware to cut it some where else on your PC
try this open Ad-aware then click on the Setting tab (The Gear) make sure that the "Automatically save Logfile" is ticked (Checked),
and then have a look where it says "Write logfiles to"
the Default it C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-aware\Logs\.
then click the "Proceed" button.
but if for some reason you still can not find where you have put your log file then you can always copy & paste it straight from the Ad-aware program window after the scan has finished.
