I'm not sure how to use forums, so I'm not even sure this is the proper place to post an inquiry.

On the Status indicator, it always says 'not available.'
I don't know if this is normal but, if it's not, I don't know how to correct it.
Thanks,
lorraine

Hi leb,

From what you are saying, I assume that you have Ad-Aware SE Personal (the free version).

In the screen-shot, where mine says "loaded" in green, is that where yours says "not available"{?

With the (paid-for) versions of Ad-Aware (SE Plus and SE Pro), there is a real-time monitor called Ad-Watch, which monitors for things like attempted reigistry changes and other suspicious activity.

Since Ad-Watch is not included in the (free) Personal version, it says "Not Available".

Regards,

Spike

NB: If you do have the (paid-for) Plus or Pro, them we have a problem to resolve cool.gif

Hi Spike,
Thanks so much. You have answered my question. I do have the free version and I did suspect it was related to that.

I do have another quick question, though, if you don't mind. Specifically, I am hesitant to remove all quarantied items and, to my understanding, quarantined items are not harmful to my security even if not removed. Is this correct?

Hi leb,

Once quarantined, files are locked away from your system and can't hurt it.

If all you are getting are tracking cookies (text files) and MRUs (Most Recently Used items), then you have nothing to worry about anyway. To control these, see my post in this Topic: objects don't go away

If anything else appears in your scan results, quarantine it - wait at least 2 -3 weeks, to ensure that it is not a critical part of your system or any program that you use.

After that, it is up to you when you delete the quarantined file.

That said, should you quarantine something (other than MRUs or Cookies) and it keeps re-appearing, you may have an infection. In that case, you should post back here in a new Topic, with a full description of what the problem appears to be.

Regards,

Spike
