I purchased this product 10/95 and a friend put it on my computer. I also had Norton Internet Security installed. Compu USA said just down load updates. My computer has windows XP and it say's problem retriving info. Do I need to buy a newer version. I went to purchase one and it appears Fry's is still selling the one I have with the 2004 date in the left corner. I want to make sure my computer is protected. I have until 11/12/06 to renew my Norton so adware should be the same date. Please explain how I can do this. One computer operator said my Norton may be blocking my up grade to shut it down for 15 min. I am not realy comfortable with shuting down the internet security. Mary

Hi Mary Silva, Sorry, missed the fact that you are a Retail Purchaser, not on on-line purchaser.

To Register an Ad-Aware product purchased through a retail outlet (ie: Not on-line)
Follow the link on your Retail Purchase CD - http://www.lavasoft.de/support/customerregistration.php

This will take you to this page:

If you have not already done so, complete and submit, and you will be registered. From there you can see what updates (if any) are available to you.
The present version is Ad-Aware SE Build 1.06r1 - (look in the bottom-right of your main Ad-Aware Status page for version info), as in this screen-shot:

Thank you Spike do I have to turn off my norton internet security to get updated adware. Also is there a newer version than the one out in 2004? I think I have automatic update on mine. Mary

You shouldn't have to turn it off - I use Norton Anti-virus and ZoneAlarm Firewall, without any problems.

The present Build (version) is as noted in my post above - Ad-Aware SE Build 1.06r1

If you are using a version from 2004, it is likely to be between SE Build 1.02 and SE Build 1.05 - as I said, log-in to the Customer Center and retrieve your license info, renewal date and whether you are entitled to download any products.

Depending on exactly when you bought Ad-Aware, you may have to pay a small annual renewal charge - details of that would be in your private section of the Customer Center.
