I have used the free adaware for years now, wanting a better coverage I have just purchased Adaware SE plus.
My problem is with Ad-Watch, I have it set to startup at windows startup, I keep getting the following error "Ad-Watch has encountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for any inconvenience" any idea as to how to rectify this annoying problem. wub.gif

Hi radames,

Sounds like an install problem - try uninstalling/reinstalling with a re-boot in between.

(In 6-7 years of using Ad-Watch, I have had that message maybe 3 times - just rebooted and it disappeared...)

Let us know how that works.

Regards,

Spike

Hi Spike, I completely deleted Adaware, ran registry mechanic to make sure that everything was deleted then rebooted the machine and re-installed adaware, and I got the very same error report.
I clicked on Restores or Loads Adwatch it loaded without a problem, the error only happens on cold startup or restart.

Thank you for your very quick reply.

sad.gif It looks like this thread has been forgotten!! Can we get some help please?! I am having the same problem. I've been using Ad-Aware for about 5 years, and this just has happened within the last year. It's not consistent, but happens about 8 times out of 10 bootups. Does Ad-Aware need to run BEFORE Ad-Watch? If I have a bunch of programs starting, could that delay Ad-watch starting and cause the problem? Does Ad-Watch need to start before the other processes? Is there some way in Windows to make sure an applicatoin has a "priority" start position - (starts before other apps)?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same thing.

Thanks for your ASAP reply!

Hi:

I having the same problem, I have set ad-Watch to start with Windows at boot up, I get the message"Ad-Watch.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".

I am then invited to send a report to Microsoft which I did.

Microsoft replied, "The problem was caused by Ad-Adware. This program was created by Lavasoft. Lavasoft does not currently have a solution for the problem you reported.

It then goes on to suggest I contact Lavasoft support, which brings me here.

I note some of the previous postings were added quite some time ago, but received no reply. Is this board monitored, and if so why no response. How do I contact tech support directly.

I using Adawre SE Plus. Build 1.06r1, definition file SE1R157 05.03.2007.

If there as Microsoft suggest Lavasoft doesn't have a solution to this problem, will one be provided in the sonn to be released upgrade.

As indicated in a previous post, this problem only occurs on boot up. If I start Ad-Watch after the system boots, it functions properly.

My OS is Win XP Home SP2.

Would appreciate any help offered.

The reason that I did not return was that I was advised to contact Lavasoft Help, which I did, their advise was the same as here ie. "reinstall the program" then restat the machine, this I did but to no avail and as of now it still will not load Ad-watch on startup the only way it will load it is manually.

Hopefully the new ad-aware won't have any problems like this. (just have to wait for it to come out of beta [or test the beta if you are up to it])
