Hi CPTjerry,
There are probably left-over registry entries that McAfee is detecting.
Which version of McAfee did you purchase? This post in the McAfee forum:
The patch has been released: Aug. 30thQUOTE
McAfeehelp.com Forum Index -> VirusScan 11 (Online Subscriptions/Boxed Product)Here are the version numbers for the core components:
Security Center: 7.0.329
Firewall: 8.0.203
Privacy Service: 9.0.382
Spam Killer: 8.0.239
VirusScan: 11.0.213
The patch will be delivered to everyone who has the new software installed as an automatic update. You can trigger the update by right-clicking on the McAfee icon and selecting "Updates" (or by hitting the Update button in the Security Center).
There has been a lot of debate as to why Ad-Aware and other products suddenly had to be uninstalled to get the McAfee "Update". Check your boxed version and if necessary, contact McAfee and ask for a more recent Build that doesn't conflict with any other programs (they all co-existed peacefully for years).
There are a number of posts in various forums on the issue:

A lot of users decided to keep the so-called "conflicting products" and go for a free AV till it was sorted out.
