Hi
When I open up AdAware it keeps telling me that my updates are more than sixteen days old.
I log on and try to update but I am then told that there are no new updates available. Obviously because I have recently updated.
Yet I still get the message in AdAware telling me that my definitions need to be updated
Has anyone got any idea as to what the problem is?
Regards

I doubt it!!
I e-mailed them for help on this problem over two weeks ago and have heard nothing.
In fact, come to think of it, I have only ever had one reply to my support questions and that took nearly three weeks to get back to me.
Seems I've got another week to go!!!!

Hi benosc & Jean-Philippe Peçon,
There is no problem, simply a slight delay in releasing the new Defintion File - nothing to be worried about. It has happened occasionally in the 7+ years that I have been using this program - just not very often.
If you just look down the page, there are several topics, all on the same subject, all with the same answer.
Alternatively, to see the latest Definition File number and release date, look here:

Hi Spike-NZ
I do have the latest definition (124.19.09.2006) loaded already.
Yet still I get the message that my definitions are not up to date.
So what could be causing it? Any ideas?

Hi,
It is just a defaultvalue set in the program. To warn after 14 days. As far as I know, there is no real checking if there really -are- new definition files. It just warns you after two weeks.
If you click on the cog wheel/configuration thing you can set the number of days if you would like to get rid of the warning. As soon as the new updates are out you can download them anyway.

Hi
Mimsy - Thanks for your reply - I realise what you say in your first paragraph. It doesn't matter whether I set it for 5,10 or 20 days, I still get the mesage everytime I start AdAware.
- My point is that I do in fact have the current updates. That is not the issue. I want to know why, even though I have set the update reminder to 20+ days, it still reminds me everytime I start up AdAware.
LS Steve3 - I have read your stick and will try what you suggest but my problem is as outlined above to Mimsy.
I do have the up to date Definition files ( I make a point of updating every week) and I have set the definition reminder to 20+ days so it shouldn't show up should it. I know I do not have any malware present. Have I missed something??

The update file itself is either the wrong file or it's incorrectly coded. If you look in the file you'll clearly see the date at the top of the file, Sept 19.

Hi benosc,
Could you please post the top part of your last scan with Ad-Aware SE so we can verify version, reference file used, etc?
As Logs are stored in :
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-aware\Logs\.
An easy way to get there is to
click Start,
click Run
And type in and press ENTER: %appdata%
then click Lavasoft
then Ad-Aware
and then Logs.
scroll down to find the latest one that you have
(by date & time)
and open it right Click select all
copy and then paste the contents of it here.
