When I start the Ad-Aware SE Personal scan it starts normally for about 20 seconds with at least one item found. My internet security software then reports Dr Watson Degugger activity, which I allow and then the PC goes to blue screen, stating "C000027a Fatal System Error. The WIndows LogonProcess system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has shutdown."
I have tried this 3 or 4 times with other anti spyware programs turned off with the same result.
I have subsequently read similar Lavasoft forum logs and tried running Lavasoft VX2 cleaner and VundoFix. VX2 cleaner gave a clean result. VundoFix found one item, which I removed. Subsequent Ad-Aware SE scan produced the same system shutdown result.
I have a IE hijacker problem and have run Webroot Spy Sweeper and Spybot scans. Spy Sweeper was showing no items found after previously removing spyware and Spybot found NewDotNet registry items that cannot be removed due to running system files. These scans were done before running Ad-Aware SE. I am wanting to run Ad-Aware to try to get rid of my IE hijacker problem.

I confirm that I have Ad-Aware SE Personal Build 1.06r1 and downloaded defiition file SE1R124 19.9.06. I tried running an Ad-Aware full system scan again with the same result (computer shutdown) after about 20 seconds of scanning (1 tem found).

I see the problem. You've got the a variant of the Delf trojan (coolwebsearch parasite) which is very difficult to remove once infested with it.
This tool should help:
Download win32delfkil.exe.
http://users.telenet.be/marcvn/tools/win32delfkil.exe
Save it on your desktop.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe and install it. This creates a new folder on your desktop: win32delfkil.
Close all windows, open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.
The computer will reboot automatically.
Post the contents of the logfile c:\windelf.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

Thanks for the advice on the Delf trojan. I have run other anti spyware since my last posting and I have now run the windelfkil as suggested.
I still want to run Ad-Aware SE but have not tried since my first posting.
