After running 'Messenger' & 'OE/W Messenger'
the icons in taskbar still pop up.
Shouldn't they be gone?

Hi zut,

Open Windows Messenger, select Tools > Options.

Under the General tab, de-select "Automatically run Window Messenger when I log on to Windows"

Also ensure "Allow automatic sign-in when connected to the Internet" is de-selected.

Click Apply, then OK, then close Windows Messenger.

Next time that you re-boot, it should be gone. Let me know if you still experience problems (this program is set to work automatically by default, by MS).
