Hi. I'm new to the forum.

Been using ad-aware se personal for over a year with no problems at all.

But now full scans take hours to complete (they used to take 30 minutes at most). sad.gif I've noticed that ad-aware slows to a crawl whenever it meets zip files. I've unchecked the "scan within archives" box in the settings, but it didn't work out. mad.gif Ad-aware still slows to a crawl in folders such as:

C:\Program Files\Quick Time\QTsystem\QTJava.zip
C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\pr7hz9z3.zip
C:\WINDOWS\java\Packages\COEPB3JV.ZIP
etc.

So, what can I do to make ad-aware effectively ignore compressed files?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you didn't save the new settings by using the proceed button?

Button
Proceed: Click "Proceed" to save your settings and return to the Ad-Aware SE main Status screen.

Note! Clicking the "Proceed" button is not required after changing the settings on any given configurations screen if you will be making changes in more than one area. You DO however need to use the "Proceed" button to save all changes made when finished with setting your configurations.

Thanks, Calamity:

I did click "proceed", but I think I've already discovered the source of the problem. I've recently installed a program called Cyberhawk (from Novatix), and I think it's this program what causes the slow-down. When I disable Cyberhawk, Ad-Aware's scan speed goes back to normal. By the way, have other people using both Cyberhawk and Ad-Aware encountered the same problem?

Thanks again.

I've never heard of Cyberhawk, No.
