When i Perform full system scan it scans properly for a few hours, finds some Critical objects & seems to get through most of my Harddrive.

But when nearly finished it stops counting and nothing happens (I've waited for 48 hours last time).
The only thing to do is to cancel the scan, or terminate the program.

I've done this both in Normal mode and in Safe mode.
I have XP profesional SP1.

I've been able to run Smart scan to complete and Quarantine & Deleting some objects.

- Please help a newbie, why does this hapen to me?

For the Ad-Aware scanning issue can you try this process please. Look at this FAQ:

Go to the second part entitled Ad-Aware add-ons and other tools and follow the process described.

You should also seriously consider updating to SP2 once your system has been cleaned. SP2 improves the security of XP in many areas and Microsoft will soon be only releasing new secuirty updates for XP SP2.
