okay i was doing various things to make the computer run faster (hp 1.2ish ghz with soundblaster live 24 bit ati radeon 7000 graphics card and about 480 mb of ram ) i needed to do someting cuz the computer had "the sickness" (viruses ect.) and after doing various things (deleting useless programs running various spyware and virus programs removing useless things from autostart) the last thing i did was run ccs and get rid of whatever it wanted to get rid of and then installing an update for windows and i was kicking back watching some initial D on the comp and windo9ws finished updating so i was like yeah okay i should reboot right? well when i did i noticed there was no sound i was like hmm trys to turn it up and nothing happened well turns out the comp isnt registering the sound card the video card and well everything there is nothing in the device manager em pty and i cant open the add hardware button. well i went searcing the net for a resolution and was almost assured the problem was the windows KB05749 update, it wasnt and then i thought may e it was the apropos that im not sure of anyway i would greatly appreciate some help heres some logs i ran.

Probably the quickest way is to try and use system restore to back-out the changes made.

See this Microsoft article

and follow the instructions to restore your computer to a time before the changes were made.

Then run a scan with Ad-Aware SE and post the log file and somebody can advise on the best way to clean your system.

1) Start Ad-Aware SE

2) In the Ad-Aware SE Status window click on the "Check for updates now" link then the connect button and follow the prompts to ensure you have the most up to date defintions file.

3) Press the start button and in the Preparing System Scan window select the option "Perform full system scan", click on "Search for negligible risk entries" so that it shows a red cross i.e. is deselected and click on "Search for low-risk threats" so that is shows green tick i.e. is selected.

4) Click the next button to start the full scan, when the scan finishes click on the show logfile button. In the log window right mouse click and select "Select all..." then right mouse click again and select "Copy to clipboard" then paste in a reply to this thread.

Actually, i kinda figured out the problem... see i was deleting things from auto start things i didnt know exactly what they did.. and plug and play didnt sound like it was to too useful to me... haha that was problem plug and play is what maskes things in the device manager in the first place. wonder if any other people i saw complaining about the same problem out there had it for the same reason as me.

Could you see if this item is still on your PC.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\fxgvo.exe

A quick way to navigate there is to click on start then select run and in the window that opens enter

%windir%\system32

and click on the OK button. This is a system folder so it may prompt you this is hidden if so click to prompt to view hidden files.

If that file still exists please send to Lavasoft for investigation. See this forum for information on how to do this:

Post a fresh HijackThis even if you can not find this file.
