Tried to upgrade to new version (3 seperate times now) (free version).
Removed install file each time and downloaded new file each attempt.
Keep getting message, "Cannot start setup - the setup file may be corrupt, or you may have the wrong password... etc"
Any thoughts??

Make sure to download from an official Lavasoft mirror site:

http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

The file should be Ad-AwareInstallation.exe, according to CNET file size is 73.52 mb. It could be malware preventing installation, so try renaming the installer. Also, update any other security programs and run scans before installing.

If none of this works, read the instructions in my signature:

1. post a log in the HijackThis forum. Copy/paste or link to this thread to describe the problem, and somebody there can help you with malware removal.

2. submit malware to Lavasoft for analysis - this will help in future definitions and software updates

THANKS Visitor!! Your first idea about renaming the installer name worked!!

As you suggested, I made sure all the download details were correct, and made sure I was up to date everywhere and ran scans too before install but no threats showed.
After the install I ran the new Ad-Aware full scan with no threats found either.

Hmm.

Well I'm glad visitor's suggestion worked, but because it works it makes me very suspicious. Eventhough no threats have been detected, I would still like you to read the instructions in my signature and post a HJT log in the HJT forum outlining the issue.
