I have been using this product for years, (adaware 2009) recently following an update I ran the program when it unexpectedly stopped running and generated a (!) over the icon in the task bar. When i double clicked on it a window opened saying an error occurred and submit the error to Lavasoft. I uninstalled the program, restarted, reinstalled the program and the problem persists. The current error message I get says: Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I am using windows xp with two gigs of ram.

This error seems to be caused when Ad-Aware tries to remove a detected threat and fails to do so.

I will ask a member of Lavasoft staff to help you.

The Hijackthis log didn't indicate there was any infection causing this. Did Ad-Aware say it detected a threat? Did any of your other security software find a threat?

I'm not sure what is causing the runtime error, but have asked our Q&A team to have a look.
