Tech Support,

I just registered earlier today, and still trying to feel my thru.

Can you please look at the SCREEN SHOTS I provide of the Completed full scan I did on my PC to see if there is anything that would be harmful to the system.

The MyWebSearch and FunWeb I thought was already deleted, but after reading the information on your Client, I think not.

One more thing, this PC was actually given to me 7-days ago, so I don't know what I may find on it. I learned many years ago, that you just have to watch where you click.

Oh my, the 2nd SCREEN SHOT that I UPLOADED is the wrong screen, I should had load my PC's Specifications.

I totally forgot to mention I'm running Win XP-2002 and have a DELL PC

Thank you for any and all help.

A Theat Assessment Index (TAI) of 3 is low on a scale of 10, so not like a nasty virus, but it looks like Ad-Aware chose to "Ignore Once." You can change the action taken by clicking the little arrow drop down menus. That way you can quarantine objects and restore them if they affect the usability of the system.

However, posting screenshots is not the best way to do this. Since your unfamiliar with the system and have Avast Anti-virus, you should update it and run a scan with that also. After Ad-Aware and Avast, if you're still worried that the system is infected, read the instructions in my signature:

1. post a log in the HijackThis forum. Copy/paste or link to this thread to describe the problem, and somebody there can help you with malware removal.

2. submit malware to Lavasoft for analysis - this will help in future definitions and software updates smile.gif

Hello,

Thank U for your reply.

What I didn't say in my post was, I am not real PC savvy, so more than likely, you will have to really walk me thru things.

After I read your post, I went back to the program, and for the life of me I can not find the Results menu. I liked the old Program face more than this one, it was so easier to follow, with this one on my PC, even though it has less things to look at, it seems to be harder to find things and understand.

So what your saying to me is download Hijack This and post it. Will you be able to look at it and tell me what I should delete or quarantine???

I'm sorry, I don't understand about the TAI and Ad-Aware choosing to "Ignore Once", beyond me.

So your suggestion is run a Avast scan also and post that here??? I will do just that.

Thank you for your help.

For Ad-Aware results, you need to go into Advanced Mode and the Scan screen. You can look at the user manual through the program Help or here:

http://lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/...ware_manual.pdf

"Ignore Once" means just that. It will ignore it this time, but will pick it up on the next scan. Other actions you can choose is "Quarantine" which deactivates and saves the file in case it's needed, or "Delete" which means it's gone forever.

You don't need to post the Avast log here, I was just saying to scan with Ad-Aware and Avast to clean anything before proceeding to HijackThis. However, if you're not computer saavy, maybe you should just go straight to HijackThis. Just follow the instructions in my signature. It's a separate forum here where the helpers are trained in malware removal. It wouldn't be me, since I'm not trained, most likely it will be security advisors Blade or Rorschach.

Hello,

I would like to know why I'm not receiving any E-mail notifications in my E-mail box, and when I came to see if I had any responses to my POST, I found I was SIGNED out. It's hell going thru the steps in having to RECONFIRM your Login information.

When I first registered, I went to My Controls and made sure that I would be notified of any answers to any of my POSTS.

Whoever reads any of my posts from now on, I'm really sorry about the ENLARGED letters, but it's hard for me to read anything smaller.

Hi, I moved your HijackThis log to the proper place:

http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=27657

It's now in the HijackThis forum where somebody will help you with any malware. Now that it's moved, you should go to the top of the page under Options and select "Track this topic."

About the email, I don't think the board notifications are full-proof. There are many times when emails are not sent. Below the reply text box, always make sure to check the box "Enable email notification of replies." Also, you can always find your posts here by clicking on your username at the top left of the page. This will open your profile where you can find links to your posts.

To stay logged in, when you first open the forum page, click on "Log In" (next to "Welcome Guest"). When the Log In Page opens, check "Remember me" under the options. This will set a cookie in your browser which keeps you logged in.

Also, which internet browser are you using? Usually there is a setting which allows you to enlarge the fonts onscreen.
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please click here.
