There are 2 computers in the house. Both XP Pro SP3. First is ASUS second Foxconn M/B's One has this problem of Ad Aware vanishing to the tray and then unable to reopen. It showed a threat level of 10 prior to closing. The other computer showed 12 odd threats with TAI of 10 which were removed, but did not crash. Among these were downloaded motherboard drivers from ASUS (P5QE) . Other computer is Foxconn MB and I had downloaded drivers for the ASUS on that.
I removed the ASUS driver files from my backup on the ASUS. Next scan and tray icon when crashed only indicated tracking cookies when mouse hovered over it

The F: detection above looks like it may have been malware saved in a system restore point. You may want to post the ASUS files in the False Positive forum so Lavasoft will have a look. If they're safe, they'll fix the detections in a future definition update.

I have subsequentially downloaded the files from ASUS using their download manager and FDM. they check out OK with AVG Paid, Spybot, Microsoft malicious removal tool, and Kaspersky. Still deleted as Malicious by Ad Aware.
There were 6 or 7 files that I downloaded including Marvell SATA drivers, ASUS Probe etc

I wonder how many of the computers experiencing problems are ASUS M/B's ?

As I indicated The Foxconn M/B based unit does NOT crash, just "False Positives", The F: detection unfortunately has been deleted, the ASUS Based unit is the one crashing Ad Aware

Again, if you post the ASUS files in the False Positives forum, Lavasoft will have a look. If safe, they'll update their detection database. Once they go undetected, Ad-Aware probably won't crash.

Of course, it could all be related to this problem. There have been other cases here of the new Ad-Aware crashing upon detection, and Lavasoft thinks it's related to the scans stalling.
