I have been using aaw anniversary edition 8.0, for several months with great success, i then updated to the latest aaw version: 8.1, many issues with it, I didn't want to take the time to resolve them. I redownloaded aaw ae, it operated perfectly for several days, until now. It's now acting quite similar to the latest version of aaw.
I ran a whole computer virus scan with AVG, it came up with 10 trojans & a few spywares in cookies. AVG remedied these infections, still having a problem with aaw ae. aaw ae wil scan for about 30 seconds, then disappear.
It all started yesterday when I dowloaded limewire, (sorry), then downloaded three music files from this program. "Needless to say, I got rid of this program immediately".
Any help is appreciated,

Rather than the changeover from AE to 8.1 and back, it sounds like malware may be what's causing Ad-Aware to shutdown now. P2P filesharing is a common way to get infected.

1. post a log in the HijackThis forum. Copy/paste or link to this thread to describe the problem, and somebody there can help you with malware removal.
2. submit malware to Lavasoft for analysis - this will help in future definitions and software updates
