Since it's now been over a week since the last official update to Adaware (8.1) broke all our software, and there's still nothing in the official reply thread about this except for a statement that they are aware of the bug, perhaps there needs to be some movement by Lavasoft to restore SOME functionality to their software and let us protect our machines again after their error.
As this clearly isn't a quick fix, I'd like to suggest that until a working fix for this bug in the updated build is ready, Lavasoft make available the LAST working version of Adaware as a downgrade disguised as an upgrade. That way the previously good working functionality can be restored by the usual upgrade process. This would go some way to restoring our faith in this software company.
Can the moderators pass this request back to Lavasoft, please?

Hi,
I think there is problem with your methodology.
Consider those users, such as myself, who are experiencing no problem at all. Lavasoft push out this 'update' which reverts their installation to the previous version. Now consider;
i) their confusion as the program has changed yet again, but back to the previous version, after they have ran what they believed to be an update
ii) the loss of the improvements which Lavasoft have made to this new version (when working correctly).
A better solution for you, would be to unistall 8.1 and reinstall AE yourself. You can download it through the official mirror www.filehippo.com and wait for news here about a fix for the scanning problem.

Well said Asmian! Or, do what I did...delete 8.1 completely, saves space on the hard drive and lets Norton 2010 do all the work finding adware/malware. But then again, if Lavasoft thinks there is nothing wrong with 8.1 then they are into denial. By the way, the last few weeks of AE weren't so great either, or hadn't Lavasoft heard? I have 4 computers, two are laptops. Ad-Aware 8.1 doesn't work properly on any of them. Both laptops have rarely been used--like...not since last year. The other PC, hasn't been used since last April. Hooked it up, downloaded 8.1 (Windows XP SP3, Norton 2008 installed, but not updated), before downloading any updates to anything and guess what...8.1 didn't work.
Hope you guys get this problem sorted out...SOON! But, am not holding my breath.
Cheers
