Trying to be brief, I had just purchased ad aware pro (had the free version for a long time with no problems) and one day it had a box to upgrade your ad aware. After that upgrade never worked again, cant even get to main menu. I get a "failed to connect to service" error.
I have tried everything on this page....
http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=26559

I tried deleting with Revo, uninstalling and re-installing. What I dont see is the "lavasoft" service in my service.msc menu. I tried both methods of installing from link above, manually and re-installing.....

Can ANYONE help me????????? highly frustrated to the 10th power.....

Try the slightly different "sc create" commands from this post:

If the problem persists, since you're a paid Pro user, you can contact Lavasoft Customer Support via the link in my signature. They have email and live chat support.

I have the same problem with free ad-aware. Ever since updating from Anniversary edition to latest it has an error that says "Failed to connect to service"
Note I have un-installed, re-installed , used Revo, I have just about given up. PS I even tried run as admin at launch, install. I run 64 bit Vista Home Edition.
What has Microsoft or Lavasoft done? PS I do not run Norton but AntiVir. (+ Spybot)

Did you try everything listed in the posts above?

I've been fighting this problem for several days after upgrading to 8.1. I un-installed and re-installed at least 6 times and got the same problem. I re-installed 2008 and still no work.
Last nite I tried Revo with no luck. I used Revo, then did a search for Ad-Aware and found all kinds of stuff. Deleted all of them, the went to regedit and found about 30 more pieces in the registry. I deleted all of them and re-installed 2008. It installed, then downloaded all the updates. After the updates installed, I got a flash screen about upgrading to the anniversary edition. Since that's what I had, I clicked on the link, but I was taken to the 8.1 download screen. I DID NOT download 8.1. I ran a scan and found 8 problems, one of them being a trojan which I got rid of. Ran a second scan and all was good.
Hope this helps others with the same problem.

One thing that did happen - I thought the scan seemed to running very slow and at the end of the scan, I got a message that my virtual memory was low. I haven't had this problem in 25 years.
